The March 22 Moscow attack claimed by the Islamic State (IS) has become a watershed moment for jihadists and propaganda. Particularly, Islamic State affiliates and branches have unleashed a new wave of propaganda against the West and, specifically, Europe, framing threats which can lead to emulation attacks by individuals inspired by the Crocus City Hall massacre or, potentially, by cells and networks connected to the Islamic State.
However, not only IS, but also other jihadist entities – militant and online ones – have resumed their anti-Western posture, linking it to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and other events, thus developing a competition among jihadists on attacks in the West.
